Why societies must fight to stay relevant
As expectations, incentives, and behaviors change, Executive Director of the Royal Statistical Society Hetan Shah argues that societies assume their own sustainability at great risk. How can member organizations avoid the trap of complacency and work to remain relevant?
Hetan Shah is responsible for the overall strategy and management of the Royal Statistical Society. His previous roles have included running the national charity ‘Think Global’ and senior think tank roles. His interests include evidence informed policymaking, data ethics, international development and sustainability. Hetan is Visiting Professor at the King’s Policy Institute, King’s College London. He is chair of the Friends Provident Foundation. He is an Honorary Vice-President of the Geographical Association and is on the Impact Advisory Board for the Big Lottery Fund.
